A Carolina alum ('09 represent!) and first-generation college student, Ash Barnes is a fierce advocate of accessibility and inclusion for students in higher education. Transitioning from rural small-town life in Dunn, North Carolina to UNC-Chapel Hill left an indelible impression on Ash during her college experience. In her 17-year professional career at UNC's Department of Asian & Middle Eastern Studies, she specialized in outreach and recruitment for underserved communities.
